How can they justify this Tobacco Ban?
Studies have shown that 80% of African Americans smoke menthol, and also a pretty large percentage of cigar smokers are African American. So ALL flavored tobacco is banned, including cloves, EXCEPT for MENTHOL and CIGARS! Tell me that’s not unfair. TELL ME that has nothing to do with the fact that our president is an African American SMOKER! (Who, btw, I’ve seen smoke cigars in pictures and admits he smokes menthol.
Not to mention menthol is way worse for you than normal cigarettes or most flavorerd ones.
And after that terrible unfair tax on tobacco, this? THROW TOBACCO IN THE BOSTON HARBOR!!!!
Whoa…slow down. I hate the ban too. I hate the taxes. But the Congressional Black Caucus were trying to make menthol illegal too. They compromised by settling for an 18 month study on how menthol effects minorities. Still, they want it illegal.

Our recent laws have driven companies not to import to the US and it is driving smaller companies out of business. The government is fostering a monopoly and Reynolds (now Altria) is enjoying the ride.
I roll my own cigarettes. The retail price of a pound ot tobacco before April was $20 to $25 a pound. Now we have a $25 tax on that pound of tobacco. That’s more that the retail price and doesn’t include state taxes or sales taxes. At least I don’t live in Texas which has a state tax of $17 on that same poor pound of tobacco (for a total of $42 tax on a retail value of $25).
The excessive taxation is causing tobacco sellers to go out of business which accomplishes the same thing as banning the product.
What do we do? Find Out who voted for this and vote them out of office. Get involved. Stop letting the government take away our freedoms. It’s sad that in a country that claims to cherish freedom that the government can tax items at over 100% of their value and the citizens cheer.
